M Shed

A new approach for a social history museum to embody and celebrate the evolving nature of Bristol. An old storage warehouse situated on the floating harbour, changed use from the Industrial Museum to a storehouse of memories. It places the audience at the centre of the proposition inviting them to add their experiences. The notion of flattening time puts the historical collection alongside contemporary stories to inspire dialogue about the future. Three galleries use different display approaches informed by the stories of how people have transformed and experienced the city. I developed the interpretive planning from masterplan through concept and scheme design to on-site installation, building a strong client relationship.
